Abby Gartner- Maroon 5

Video for the Maroon 5 song "Never Gonna Leave this Bed."
I was five years old when I first heard them on the radio. My mom and I were driving home from Dominick’s Grocery Store and we decided to turn on the radio. The words, “and she will be loved…” came pouring through the car speakers. That was the day I was hooked. I have been a Maroon 5 fan for thirteen years. I know everything there is to know about the band, but especially Adam Levine because he is a perfect human being. Maroon 5 has been known to be very emotional in their songs, but with that emotion also came a lot of sex. They’re famous for having at least one sexual song on each album. Now, they aren’t all raunchy and horrible to listen to, and the video above is a perfect example of this. The song “Never Gonna Leave This Bed” came out in 2012 on their third record “Hands All Over.” The message of this song would right away seem to be Adam Levine once again singing about having a lot of intercourse in one day, but titles can be deceiving. My favorite lyrics from this song are, “Wake you up in the middle of the night to say, I will never walk away again, I never gonna leave this bed. You say go It isn't worth it and I say no It isn't perfect so I stay and still I'm never gonna leave this bed.” This song was written about the lovely Victoria Secret model Anne Vyalitsyna, also known as Adam’s girlfriend at the time. Anne and Adam dated two years and Adam told just about anyone who asked him that he was going to marry Anne someday. While the album was being written, Anne told radio and TV host Howard Stern on his radio show that her and Adam were having “very controversial differences” when Stern asked when her and Levine would tie the knot. This was the first time Adam had heard she was feeling this way. She was having problems with their lack of communication and the fact that Maroon 5 was getting bigger and Adam never spent any time with her. In the event to win her heart back, Levine wrote “Never Gonna Leave This Bed” about her to show Vyalitsyna that he would always be there for her no matter what. The female in bed with Adam in the music video is Anne herself. Two weeks after the video was released Vyalitsyna broke up with Levine on live television. Classy right. The music video itself is my all time favorite video because of the uniqueness. Adam and Anne are shown being intimate in various public places, around real people who were not actors, so Adam could show Anne he didn’t care what the world thought about him because he would do anything for her. The camera shots, glass-walled truck and large crowds of fans are only a few of the reasons why this video is so oddly amazing. He doesn’t care what the public thinks of him. I believe there is a strong message about doing things for others to make them feel wanted and appreciated, but I also think there is the theme that life is not perfect, it actually sucks sometimes, but if you truly love someone you hold each other’s hands and pass over the bumps together. If couples nowadays didn’t learn how to wait out the storms then they wouldn’t ever see the sun.

Video below is another unique video about the song "Goodnight Goodnight."
