John Denver - Leaving on a Jet Plane
Growing up I remember always listening to “Leaving On a Jet Plane” with my grandpa whenever I would see him. A few years ago my grandpa suddenly passed away, and it was extremely hard on my family. A few days after his passing I remember hearing this song and thought of him immediately. I felt as if it brought me to peace, and as I thought more in depth I was able to see the true message. The lyrics go “i'm leaving on a jet plane… don't know when i’ll be back again”, and I took that as he was leaving, but its was only a partial separation, and that I don’t know when we will reunite again. Now, whenever I hear this song it always uplifts my mood and brings me to peace, knowing one day we will be together again. John Denver’s music is now very special to me and has changed the way I listen to music. I now focus on the meaning of the lyrics and appreciate the message behind them.
