The song “Lean on Me” has a message that is important for all of us which is we can’t go through life without the help of our friends and family. It stresses the importance of friendship when it says “When you need a hand, we all need somebody to lean on.” Nobody should have to go through the struggles, but also the joys of life alone. Bill Withers is the singer of this song and the song came out in 1972 which is also when he was married to his wife. He was probably singing this song in honor of his wife. The target audience for this song can be aimed towards people of all ages, but I think it is more aimed towards teenagers. Teenagers are still trying to figure out what’s important in life and what we want to do in our lives. Some people might think that money is the most important thing in life, but Bill Withers is trying to tell them that the people in our lives are what matter.
