Shortly after learning how to play the guitar I became interested in the sound of fingerstyle guitar playing. One person who’s style of guitar that I particularly enjoy is Doc Watson. Being born blind, Doc Watson taught himself to play the guitar by ear. By bouncing his thumb between the base notes he is able to create a steady rhythm that acts as the foundation for the melody. Though Watson did not create this style, he is widely recognized for his contributions. Unfortunately Doc Watson is no longer alive as he was born in 1923. Despite this, I will continue to use his music as inspiration to better my guitar playing. This song is the first song by him that I learned how to play and is one of my favorites that he performs.
A Clockwork Orange - Anthony Burgess
That's really cool how even with his disability he was able to teach himself how to play an instrument.
