In this piece of media I came across, the band Parkway Drive is trying to communicate how media shapes us. The song is “Writings On The World”. The song is trying to tell of how as humans, we are set to believe a certain set of beliefs in which is given to us by media. I like how the song says put in the ground and the only way to grow is up. That part basically tells that we have already been set into a simple life by media. We aren’t suppose to question anything or act out of place. A deep voice and hard instrumentals are used to get the point across. If there was a music video, I’d imagine a young kid growing up based on what he sees and hears. For the most part, I do believe this is true because we are raised to certain beliefs by media and this song states many things we’re not suppose to do as humans. It also says that every face has it’s place in the crowd. So we are categorized as one rather than individuals. I think this is a song that you can interpret any way you want. Rather you believe it or not, you can build an opinion on it pretty quickly. By no means do we have to live by a “system”, but the routes we take in life are a choice.
