Claire Gabel - Lady Antebellum

One piece of media that has had an impact on me was the song American Honey by Lady Antebellum. I have been a fan of Lady Antebellum’s music for a while now, and I have also been to one of their concerts, which was amazing. This song is about a girl who grew up in a small town, but she moved away. She realized how stressful her new life is, and she wishes she could go back to the slow paced life she had always known. Also, it is the process of growing up and losing your childhood innocence. She is looking back on her childhood memories, and wishing she could go back to the happy times when life was much simpler. Lady Antebellum wrote this song on their way to a cabin they go to every year when they stopped at a liquor store. At the liquor store they saw a bottle of whiskey called “American Honey” and they thought that would be a great name for a song. One of the band members is always on the guitar, so he started to hum melodies, and this song was created. As we get older and start our busy lives with our jobs, we can’t forget about our childhood. When life gets too rushed we need to slow down and remember all the exciting memories we have of growing up when life was much simpler.
