Mariah Truitt- Summertime: Kenny Chesney

One of my favorite country songs is “Summertime” by Kenny Chesney. The lyrics in this song describe summer and the freedom, happiness, fun, and memories that come with it. He states that it “don’t matter how old you are” in the lyrics because people of all ages enjoy the summer and everyone can relate to it. There is so much imagery that every time I hear this song, I think about my past summers and I get excited for the next one! It is also very upbeat and positive so it puts me in a really happy mood. I can personally relate to Kenny Chesney because summer is my favorite time of the year. My friends and I are with each other every day and no matter what we are doing, we are always having fun and making memories. Whether we are swimming in the pool, going on long drives, singing along to our favorite artists at concerts, eating or just hanging out in the sun, I will always cherish the moments that I get to spend with them. My friends and I always listen to this song the day we get out of school because it gets us excited for the months ahead of us. I know this summer is going to be the most memorable yet because we are all going to college next year. However, no matter how far away we will be from one another, whenever this song comes on, I will always think of my best friends and the memories and moments that we have shared together.
