Jenna Van Bosch- House (TV Show)

Analysis of House: House is a TV show that portrays the life of the brilliant Dr. Gregory House. Rather than following the norms of society, House willingly chooses to be different. He looks beyond surface details, seeking the deeper, underlying meaning of life. Because his life is not painted in an illusion of opulence that cloaks modern America, he suffers. Thus, the show House illustrates the beautiful life of a realist.

In my opinion, House is targeted toward the older population (ages 12 and above) due to its dramatic nature filled with a myriad of complicated medical diagnoses. However, I also know that this show is very unappealing toward those actually in the medical field. My mom is a nurse in the ICU at Lutheran General Hospital and I know she strongly dislikes House. She believes the show is too fictitious, dramatizing medical circumstances that would never take place in real life. Despite this setback, House was very successful of reaching its targeted audience after airing on TV for eight seasons (2004-2014).  

Lastly, House is a musician. He can perfectly play almost any instruments. Due to this unique ability, they utilize his skills throughout the show. Often, they transition into the conclusion of an episode by House playing on his piano, reflecting on the challenges of his days. Through this, they are able to provoke a powerful message.
